Snoring Treatment
A full night’s rest is essential to having a productive day. But there may be a number of issues at play while you’re sleeping that can cause serious risks to your health.
Snoring, gasping, breathing pauses, fatigue and more are all potential signs of sleep apnea, a condition that reduces the amount of air that flows through your body while you sleep. That can lead to a number of health issues that go beyond just being tired, including high blood pressure, heart disease, increased risk of stroke, insomnia, and much more.
Chester Dental Arts is able to assess sleep apnea and provide a number of effective solutions that can reduce snoring and other symptoms, effectively decreasing life-threatening health risks as a result of the condition.
What is Sleep Apnea?
Sleep apnea causes muscles and soft tissues in the mouth and throat to relax during sleep. This constricts the amount of air that travels through your nose and mouth, resulting in snoring and pauses in breathing. Snoring just happens to be the loudest and most noticeable symptom to those around you.
To get a more accurate picture, Chester Dental Arts can provide at-home sleep studies as opposed to a study in a hospital setting. This will allow us to better understand the nature of your condition, and figure out the best way we can begin to help you before a full medical diagnosis.
Sleep Apnea Treatment Options
Beginning with your at-home sleep study, we work on a referral basis with sleep physicians to provide a comprehensive look at your condition. Once a medical diagnosis has been made, we can provide an oral appliance, often covered by insurance, that will help regulate airflow while you sleep. Other oral dental appliances, like mouthguards, may also help as they are designed to keep your airways open and allow air to flow correctly.
