Laser Dentistry
At Chester Dental Arts, we want to offer cutting edge dentistry to our loyal patients. Advancements in laser dentistry have allowed us to provide that cutting edge service. Our office has a variety of lasers that provide our dentists the ability to make treatments a faster and more comfortable experience for our patients. Our laser technology can be used for cosmetic and in depth dental procedures making generally any trip to the dentist a quicker and more comfortable experience.
What is Laser Dentistry?
Lasers are used in dentistry for multiple different reasons. Lasers are used to eliminate a cavity and remove the decomposing parts of the tooth, as well as cure the fillings and sealants used to treat the area. Lasers are also used in procedures such as gum line recontouring for the ultimate precision, as well as many other procedures. The use of layers not only provides precision, it can also lessen the amount of bleeding and swelling that can occur during and after a procedure. This is done by the heat coming from the laser, compacted light rays, that close the blood vessels. Our patients have seen a difference in the comfort they feel during and after a procedure thanks to the use of laser dentistry. If you have any questions or want to learn more about laser dentistry read about our options below and/or contact our Chester Dental Arts team.
Laser Dentistry Options
Our practice primarily uses two types of lasers: the diode laser and the erbium laser. During your complimentary consultation, we will discuss which laser dentistry option will best suit your needs.
DIODE LASER
The Diode Laser is used for the gumline, in particular reshaping the gum, and can cut the gums in a matter of seconds without causing bleeding or pain. The precise and quick process of a Diode Laser provides us the opportunity to give our patients a fast and beautiful smile transformation. Here at our Chester Dental Arts office, we use lasers made by Biolase®, which is a reputable and cutting edge manufacturer.
ERIBIUM LASER
The erbium yag laser is used on the actual tooth. It is used to reshape the teeth, along with finding and removing cavities within the teeth. The erbium laser is used for both preventive care and treatments because it is precise and can treat specific areas without interfering with other healthy parts of the tooth. The use of the erbium yag may not even require any anesthesia for the patient.
